Happy New Year from the Writing House

Good Morning! Here is the Monday Morning Blog.

Happy New Year! Did you have fun ringing in the new year last night? We were with good friends while our kids had their own plans.

Some people look at the new year as a time to start over. Leave what happened in 2017 in the past and make some changes to do things different in 2018. Some Facebook posts talk about how you now have a blank book for another 365 days. Time to write a good story with your life experiences and choices. I have some plans in store for 2018 to change the current direction of my writing path. They are setting up a new company and realigning the current goals for my writing.

Setting up a new company

All of the blogging I have been doing to date has been a great experience. It has given me the opportunity to practice and hone my writing skills. It has also done a great job creating my author profile, introducing me to some good reads and new author friends.  In 2018, I am planning on setting up a new company and changing the focus from writing to build a platform to writing to make money at it. I don’t ever want to lose my love of writing just to make a buck, but it would be nice to have my hard work start to pay for itself.

I started taking a course in December called Planning for Success to help me make a plan to get my business up and running. It is a course for what Emily McGee calls a solopreneuer, or a maker of ones own business. Check our her website My Adaptable Career .

Realign is my word for 2018. I am going to take all of the great things I have created in the Writing House and reprioritize them to help me meet my goal for the year. My goal for 2018 is to make enough money to finance the publishing of book number two in 2019.

In the early stages of Planning for Success, I have learned with my current work schedule and family life, I don’t have a lot of time for all of the writing I want to do. So, I am going to pull back on how many blog posts I do a month and put the extra time back into other writing projects and business development. I am planning to post on the first and third Mondays of the month starting this month.

There are other changes in store for the Writing House in 2018. Adding some products to be sold, new marketing projects to promote those new items and my book The Hard Way, and finding more time in my schedule for my business and writing. I may have to get creative to find that extra time, but it will only add value to the company and my writing when I do. Be sure to check in and see what is happening.

Thanks to Unsplash.com for the amazing pictures I have started using in my posts. They are a great source of free stock photos. They have definitely made these posts look more like magazine articles.

I wish you the best for the new year. Be sure to stay in touch. What are you planning to do to make this year special and memorable?
